How do I get Software (Telnet. Etc.)?

Using Secure TELNET access is recommended (required off-campus currently and on-campus soon) for terminal session access to UNI computer systems. The TELNET client softwares you use must be configured to utilize the SSL or SSH capability.

If you don't have TELNET you can download it from various sources on the Internet. TELNET is platform unique so there are options for both MAC and WINDOWS.

Various clients are on the User Services Software dowload page at http://www.uni.edu/its/us/software just follow the description column down to "terminal emulation".

If you have a Windows computer the software we recommend is PuTTY which is available on the Software Download website.

If you need additional assistance please contact the Computer Consulting Center (CCC) at (319) 273-5555. The CCC is located in Room 36 ITTC Building. Consultants are available to provide hands-on assistance daily Monday through Friday during University Business Hours.
