Using Secure TELNET access is recommended (required off-campus currently and on-campus soon) for
terminal session access to UNI computer systems. The TELNET client softwares you use must be
configured to utilize the SSL or SSH capability.
If you don't have TELNET you can download it from various sources on the
Internet. TELNET is platform unique so there are options for both MAC and
WINDOWS.

http://www.uni.edu/its/us/software
just follow the description column down to "terminal emulation".
If you have a Windows computer the software we recommend is PuTTY
which is available on the Software Download website.
