FAQ - Laptop Connectivity (Wired & Wireless)

I would like to know if it is possible to connect my laptop to the network on campus?

Yes, however, in order to maintain adequate system security ITS does not support foreign machines connecting to UNI-Net without prior authorization, so it is NOT possible to connect your laptop to the network anywhere there is an ethernet jack. You may connect your laptop in many locations onto the campus wireless network or to hardwire ports in the Rod Library to designated ethernet ports located in the Study Rooms. You are required to register for the VLAN by bringing your laptop into the Computer Consulting Center so we may obtain the MAC address of your laptop's NIC (network interface card). The registration process normally takes a few hours during normal business day operation.

If you need additional assistance please contact the Computer Consulting Center (CCC) at (319) 273-5555. The CCC is located in Room 36 ITTC Building (East Gym). Consultants are available to provide hands-on assistance daily Monday through Friday during University Business Hours.
