Students Get Symantec (formerly Norton) Antivirus Free!

Due to the explosive virus situations on the Internet, it is imperative that anyone connecting their personal computer to the networks at UNI be running current virus protection software. To facilitate this, the University of Northern Iowa entered into a license agreement making Symantec's (formerly Norton) AntiVirus Corporate Edition software available to all "currently enrolled students".

The licensing cost is covered by Student Computer Fee funds, and the software for 2000, XP and Vista can be downloaded for free. Students with Windows 98/98ME or Macintosh or those who prefer a software CD can obtain it by paying a minimal additional CD charge via their university bill. If you have a slow (dialup) connection you will probably prefer to obtain this CD. It can be obtained by going to the Computer Consulting Center (ITTC Building Room 36) and presenting your valid UNI ID.

Also, we suggest Windows users install and run the Microsoft Defender (AntiSpyware) software.
