Most Common Quota Problem: All server base folders such as Sent and Deleted message folders are included in the quota calculations. Check to see if these folders are needing your attention. In WebAccess, select each of those folders are then Actions / Empty 'Deleted items'. If you need to store messages long term we recommend using a full email client such as Thunderbird or Outlook, click HERE for details. Quota Notifications: If you are using a desktop client and POP3, you will not receive notifications because the POP3 protocol does not support it. If you use POP3 protocol, you will need to manually check the size of your storage. We recommend using one of the Web clients periodically to check that, using the instructions in the links below. For all other clients (e.g., IMAP, WebMail, or WebAccess), if you exceed your allocated email quota you will be receive a warning from your email client, either after you authenticate or when you exceed your email quota. The client notifications will continue every few minutes until you have corrected the situation. While the account is over the allocated quota usage, you will not see any new email. New email messages will continue to be received and held until you have reached compliance. The Collab team is working on a method to send quota notifications via email prior to users going over their allocated quota, so that steps can be taken to avoid losing privileges. More information on this will be forthcoming. In the meantime, you can use one of the Web clients periodically to check your status, using the instructions in the links below. Navigate to either the Web Access client or Web Mail client from UNI email on the web. If you want to use the WebAccess client, you must be using one of these browsers: • Internet Explorer 6 (Windows 2000 or XP) • Mozilla 1.7.3 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux) • Firefox 1.0 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux) If you do not have access to one of these browsers, you will need to use the WebMail client, which will work with older browsers. |
