Managing Mail Message Filters
If you decide to use folders to organize your messages, Collab Mail provides a useful tool,
called filters, that can reduce or eliminate the work of sorting your messages after they arrive.
One use for a filter is to create a rule that tells Collab Mail where to put each new message when it arrives.
Filtering can sort incoming messages based on the following factors:
who they are from
whether they were addressed directly to you or you were in the cc: or bcc: list
keywords in the subject line
message size
priority
date sent
any combination of these.
There are other uses for filters, such as sending a copy of the message or a notification
to someone else, notifying you, or automatically deleting the message.
In addition, you can indicate the order in which the filter rules are applied.
For example, you might filter all messages from your boss into a Boss folder, and
messages with the name of a client Visioncorp in the subject of the message, into the
Visioncorp folder. You might decide the Boss rule should apply first. If a message from
your boss with the word VisionCorp in the subject line arrives in your Inbox,
it would be placed in the Boss folder.
To set up filters, use the following instructions:
Navigate to either the Web Access client or Web Mail client from
UNI email on the web.
If you want to use the WebAccess client, you must be using one of these browsers:
Internet Explorer 6 (Windows 2000 or XP)
Mozilla 1.7.3 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux)
Firefox 1.0 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux)
If you do not have access to one of these browsers, you will need to use the WebMail client, which will work with older browsers.
