Step by Step Departmental Account Email Migration Instructions
***NOTE*** - Departmental accounts DO NOT require a username change in their desktop email clients (Thunderbird,
Outlook, ect) as previously announced. Departmental accounts that had their username changed will use
that new username for the web based email clients.
1. Setup your new Email password
• The first time you use Collab email you will have to sign in using an assigned password which you will then have to change to something of your choice.
• Go to Departmental EMail Accounts for information on setting up and using departmental email accounts.
• Navigate to one of the web based email clients by going to UNI email.
• Follow the instructions provided at
Departmental EMail Accounts to change your email password.
2. Desktop client changes
• If your departmental account username was changed you will need to reconfigure your desktop email client to use that new username. Follow the instructions at the
Client Changes page to change your desktop client.
3. Folder Transfer to Collab (10:15 a.m. April 4 - due to performance problems this tool has been
abandoned)
• The folder conversion tool continued to be problematic and we discontinued use of that tool.
Individual arrangements will need to be made, please contact the ITS Computer Consulting Center (ITTC 36,
273-5555 or Click HERE to arrange via email).
Include your contact information (no long distance telephone numbers please).
• For an explanation of server side email folders and information about the Folder
Transfer Tool go to the
eMail Conversion page
4. Log into Collab email
Either
• log into Collab email through your desktop email client
Or
• Go to UNI email on the web to navigate to one of the new web based email clients.
If you want to use the WebAccess client, you must be using one of these browsers:
• Internet Explorer 6 (Windows 2000 or XP)
• Mozilla 1.7.3 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux)
• Firefox 1.0 or later (Windows, Macintosh, Linux)
If you do not have access to one of these browsers, you will need to use the WebMail client, which will work with older browsers.
