New Scanner for Optical Mark Reading
January 10, 1997
ITS has acquired a new scanner to perform optical mark reading. The new scanner provides the capability to
add functionality to test scoring services in the future. It also adds a few additional requirements to exam
batches that are submitted. Hopefully, the impact of these will be very minimal.
- 5-response and 10-response answer sheets, KEYS INCLUDED, may not be mixed in a single batch of exams.
- Combined statistics can not be provided for 5-response and 10-response portions of a test unless all
portions are done on 10-response sheets.
- Combined statistics can still be provided for multiple
sections and/or versions if all sheets are 5-response sheets.
- Combined statistics can still
be provided for multiple sections and/or versions if all sheets are 10-response sheets.
- Combined
statistics can not be provided if part of the batch are on 5-response sheets and another part of the
batch is on 10-response sheets.
- In general, there can be no mixing of 5-response sheets and 10-response
sheets in the same batch.
- Do not mark any bubbles on the KEY in either the Identification Number or
Special Codes areas in the lower left corner. Previously-used keys with bubbles already marked in the
Identification Number area are probably okay if the Special Codes area is blank.
