Pine is a screen-based mail reader that uses menus as a primary navigation tool.
Although pine is primarily menu-based, it also uses keystroke commands and
[Ctrl] key sequences to navigate among and manipulate mail
messages. The valid commands will be presented at the bottom of the pine
window.

Pine uses the pico editor for editing messages.
To invoke pine, simply type pine (lowercase only) at the $
prompt. Pine will start with the main menu presented. If this is your first
time using pine, you will be prompted to have pine create files for you. Answer
yes to the questions presented.
The arrow keys can be used to navigate among the menu choices, as well as the keys presented to the left of the menu text. In addition, the keystroke commands presented at the bottom of the pine screen can be used to navigate.
