Steps To Determine Your Java Version (Windows):

Test Your Installation of Java Software

In Windows, open a DOS prompt (a.k.a command window) and enter the following command:

     java -version 

The output will look something like:

     java version "1.4.2_06"
     Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_06-b03)
     Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

You can also use "java -fullversion" and produce output such as:

     java full version "1.4.2_06-b03"

Steps To Determine Your Java Version (Mac):

On a Macintosh, open Applications, Utilities, Terminal and enter the following command: :  

     java -version 

The output will look something like:

     java version "1.5.0_06"
     Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_06-112)
     Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_06-64, mixed mode, sharing)

You can also use "java -fullversion" and produce output such as:

     java full version "1.5.0_06-112"
