The university has several agreements which provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to purchase hardware and software at a discount. Emeritus faculty and staff, as well as new students coming to UNI are eligible for many of these discount programs. Apple

Students, parents, faculty, and staff can purchase directly from Dell and receive discounts on every purchase.

Adobe Student and Teacher Licensing Program
The Adobe Student and Teacher Licensing Program enables higher education institutions to buy Adobe education products for resale to UNI students, faculty, and staff. The university has designated University Book & Supply as their authorized reseller for Adobe software for personal use. University Book & Supply is located at 1009 W. 23rd Street, Cedar Falls, IA 50613. A valid UNI ID card is required for purchase.

Antivirus Software
Due to the explosive virus situations on the Internet, it is imperative that anyone connecting their personal computer to the UNI networks runs current virus protection software. Mathematica
As part of the three-year unlimited site license between Wolfram Research and the Iowa State Board of Regents Universities, students and faculty may install a copy of the software on their personal computers for the use or support of instruction and academic research. The agreement is for January 1, 2012 – December 31, 2014.

Microsoft Home Use Program – Faculty & Staff Only
The Home Use Program (HUP) is a Software Assurance benefit available as part of our Microsoft Campus Agreement. Through this offering, current employees have the option to purchase a copy of Microsoft® Office to install and use on a home computer during the term of our campus agreement. For each product sold through HUP, one installation on a primary device (i.e. desktop) and one installation on a mobile device (i.e. laptop) is allowed. A valid UNI email address is required for purchase.
To purchase:
- Log in to MyUNIverse with your CatID
- Click on the Work @ UNI tab
- Click on the Microsoft Home Use Program link located in the Computer Resources area.
- Follow the directions on the page to complete your transaction.
Microsoft – Students
Students qualify to purchase academically discounted software in-store or online through University Book & Supply or download through Microsoft Store. A valid UNI email address is required for purchase.

Read & Write Gold - Home Use
Read & Write Gold, award-winning literacy support software, gives an added boost to people who need support with reading, writing and learning by making support tools available right at their fingertips. SAS
As part of the licensing agreement with SAS, university faculty, staff and students may install a copy SAS Education Analytical Suite, SAS/GIS, or SAS/SPECTRAVIEW on their personal computer. This software is not available for download; to get a copy, bring a 4GB flash drive to the Computer Consulting Center, located in 36 ITTC. Staff will download the software onto your flash drive for installation.
