ITS has a small group of individuals focused on securing campus electronic systems. The security office in ITS will provide assistance and information to all members of the UNI community seeking assistance in making computing more secure.

New threats to computing appear rapidly and the ITS security office will work with the various departments at UNI to make sure adequate protection of systems at UNI is taking place. Since the only truly safe computer is one that is turned off, the ITS security office will investigate any compromises that occur and work to mitigate similar incidents from happening.

The ITS security office also provides an expanding list of best practises and documents on computer security. The navigation menu on the left will guide you to our various pages.

Slides and links from the presentation on online safety are now available.

If you have questions or concerns about computer security, please do not hesitate to email us at security@uni.edu. If you think the ITS security office could provide helpful documentation or discussion with your department, please feel free to contact us.
