Fault Tolerant Network and Fiber Expansion
We will begin construction of a second fiber path from all academic buildings on campus to the data center in Curris business building. Each building except houses will receive 12 additional strands of singlemode fiber. This second fiber path will expand fiber resources at UNI and allow Network Services to protect network service in the event of a core node failure or a data center failure. In conjunction with this project, building network connectivity will have improved fault tolerance with the intention of providing greater resiliency and reduced service impact due to building router failure. We will also improve protection of our Internet service providers and relocate ISP demarcation to secure data centers. As of 11/22/13 the campus West of Hudson is complete.
