Additional SIS Overview Sessions

The first few phases of the new Student Information System (SIS) have rolled out. Additional SIS overview sessions have been scheduled for those who were unable to attend the August sessions. Sessions will take place from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15 and 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Sept. 16, in GIL 009. If you are unable to attend a session, a recorded presentation is available online. Due to limited space, register at the Student Information System website.

ITS Web Site Launch

Welcome to the new look for the Information Technology Services web site.  For the past several months ITS Educational Technology staff have worked on a redesign of the ITS web site following new UNI standards, using our new content management system (Drupal) with a focus on providing a better user experience.  The new site has been designed based on accessing services and content from a user perspective. 

E-portfolio Conference, Sept. 17

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the conference on Sept. 17 at the University of Iowa.  The conference is free and transportation will be provided by the Academic Assessment Office and ITS Educational Technology.  Please let Donna Vinton know if you would like to attend.

Lunch and Learn: 'Using Clickers'

Turning Technologies is sponsoring two informational sessions at 10 a.m. and noon, Friday, Aug. 20, in ITTC 138, on the use of "clickers" in the classroom. Melinda Micheletto, assistant professor from Saint Michael's College, will discuss the effective use of "clickers" in promoting several technologically based pedagogies.

Fall office hours in effect Aug. 16

Beginning Monday, Aug. 16, regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) for university offices resume. Supervisors with staff who do not have e-mail access should inform them of regular business hours.

Professional and Scientific Council web site is live!

The Production House is pleased to announce that the Professional and Scientific Council redesigned web site is now live. The web site was redesigned as a Drupal site in accordance with the UNI web policies. Please visit the web site at it's new URL http://www.uni.edu/pscouncil/.

University cable TV service now provided by Mediacom

Due to a new contract, the University Residence Halls and Academic Cable systems have changed from television programming provided by Cedar Falls Utilities to programming provided by Mediacom.

This change occurred Friday, July 30. You need to rescan for the new programming on your television. Questions related to this change can be directed to Dennis Reimer.

Win2000 & XP SP2 computers lose support in one week

One server and 36 client devices are still running Windows 2000 or XP SP2 in Active Directory.  July 13 is the last day these machines will have a supported operating system.  They need to be updated ASAP, or if they're no longer in use, their account should be deleted AD.
