CatID Self-Service Password Reset goes live June 2009

Self-Service Password Reset Sample Page
It's 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning.

You're sitting at home or in your residence hall. You need to log in to MyUNIverse and...

...you've forgotten your CatID password!

The Help Desk is closed and you can't afford to wait until Sunday evening when they open again.

Wouldn't it be great if you could just click on a button, answer a few questions, and reset your own password without the need to call the Computer Consulting Center?

Well, now you can!

A new self-service feature has been added to allow users the ability to securely reset their own CatID passwords at any time of the day or night from the comfort of their home or office. Starting June 17, 2009 you will be able to establish a set of seven challenge questions and answers. Should you ever forget your CatID password, just click on the Forgot your password? link and you'll be presented with three questions from your security question set. Successfully answer those questions and you'll be able to reset your own CatID password.

Top 5 Reasons to Set Up Your Challenge Questions:

  • Productivity: Increases your productivity by eliminating the downtime waiting for the Computer Consulting Center to reset a password.

  • Availability: By setting up your challenge questions, resets are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

  • Security: User defined challenge answers verify the user’s identity, eliminating the risk of fraudulent password reset requests.

  • Efficiencies and Cost: Fewer calls to the Computer Consulting Center will allow the IT staff to focus on more critical issues, leading to increased efficiencies and better utilization of staff skills and abilities.

  • Compliance: The system admin has the ability to track which users have enrolled and which have not and allows for the tracking and reporting of all user password changes.
