UNI Parent Portal goes live November 2006
Access to your confidential information is protected by federal and Iowa law. In response to many requests, UNI has created a new secure access site that allows you to share information with others as you see fit. The new Parent Portal, or third-party access, gives you complete control of your records at all times, including who has access and which records you'd like to share. To set up a third-party account, simply click on "Create a Third-Party Account" under your Personal Records. Next, you choose the account name (UNImom, UNIdad, UNIspouse, UNIfriend, etc.) and set the password for your accounts. Then, you choose which records you want to grant access to. Options include grades, u-bill, information requested by financial aid, your week-at-a-glance class schedule, your IRS 1098 report, and your registration information. Finally, you should tell your third party that you have set up the account for them, and what their password is. They can log on any time through the Parent Portal at www.uni.edu/parents. IMPORTANT: only YOU have control of the third-party account. No university official can reset or access the account for you or your third party. The password you have set will expire every October 15 and March 15, for security reasons. You are in charge of setting new passwords, and will receive reminders prior to the deadline. In the event that you no longer want to offer access to your records, simply go through MyUniverse and change the password to your third- party account. Without knowing that password, access will be denied to your third-party.
