Emergency Planning eLearning Workshops
The Provost has directed ITS-Educational Technology to develop eLearning workshops to assist faculty with creating an online presence for their face-to-face courses. This online presence would be used to allow continuation of course work during an emergency situation where the campus may be quarantined or closed.
For this workshop it is important that you:
- know your CATID (username and password—what you use to access MyUNIverse and UNI email) and
- bring digital copies of course materials (such as the syllabus, PowerPoint presentations, handouts) with you. These materials should be brought on a USB drive (a.k.a. a thumb drive or flash drive) and be in one of the following formats:
- a word-processed file—either in a .doc or .docx (Microsoft Word)
or .rtf (generic) format;
- a PowerPoint file—either a .ppt or .pptx format;
- a Portable Document Format—a .pdf file;
- a web format—either a .html, .htm, .shtml, or .shtm file;
- an image format—either a .jpg, .gif, or .png file.
If you are not sure about the format of your files, please contact your department or college technical support person.
The goal of the workshop will be for each faculty member to leave the workshop with the basic elements of at least one course that they would use in an emergency situation.
The Emergency Planning eLearning Workshop dates are as follows:
- Tuesday, October 27th from 1pm-4pm
(register by 4:00 pm Monday, 10/26)
