Emergency Notification System

UNI Alert System

UNI is working to enhance emergency notification for faculty, staff, and students. As part of this project we have created the UNI Alert emergency notification system. See the UNI Alert Web site for additional information. This system will only be used to inform our campus community of a broad-based imminent threat or emergency on campus.

In the event of an actual emergency, you will be given instructions of what to do in the message you receive. Go to the UNI Home page (http://www.uni.edu) for up-to-date information.

Faculty, staff, and students should update their personal contact information for the UNI Alert system.

Steps to Update/Add UNI Alert Contacts

The system automatically includes all current students, faculty, and staff located on campus, based on their presence in the UNI Directory. However, you should make sure the UNI Directory has up-to-date information for you. And if you want to be notified by cell phone, voice, and/or text-message, you'll need to make sure your cell number is included in the UNI Alert database.
Sample UNI Alert Screen
  • Log in to MyUNIverse.
  •

  • Select Update my personal information in the My Personal Records channel.
  •

  • Select the UNI ALERT tab.
  •

  • Enter your emergency contact information.
  •

  • Save the changes.
  •

  • Be sure to update your local phone number under the LOCAL ADDRESS tab (students) or OFFICE tab (faculty/staff), if necessary.
  •

  • Save the changes.
Changes to the UNI Alert database are effective with the next data transfer to Connect-Ed, the vendor for the emergency notification system. The data is transferred daily. Changes to UNI directory information take 2 to 3 days to process throughout the University systems.
