Compensation with Special Position Assignment

Author: Dennis Lindner
Checked: Leah Gutknecht & ITS Directors
Approved by: Garry Bozylinsky, AVPIT
Approved Date: April 7, 1997
Effective Date: July 1, 1996

When Professional-Scientific employees are asked to temporarily assume duties for another position in addition to their current position, they will be given special compensation under the following guidelines.
  1. A formal request must be initiated by director and approved by the Associate Vice President for Information Technology (AVPIT).
  2. AVPIT must determine and approve that funding is available.
  3. Position reassignment must be for a period exceeding 12 weeks but not to exceed 12 months in duration.
  4. Position reassignment must be made for reasons other than professional development or special project assignment. Qualifying reassignments will normally occur in situations where an employee has left the university and we are not able to fill the position within a reasonable amount of time and in situations where an employee is on an extended leave of absence.
Compensation will be consistent with the Special Position Assignment Policy (J-14 ‘F’) as stated in the Professional-Scientific handbook.
