POSITION TITLE: PC SUPPORT COORDINATOR

APPOINTMENT TYPE: 12 Month, Probationary, Pay Grade IV
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Installs, maintains, and repairs centrally supported personal computers; assists in the maintenance and support of networks, microcomputers, terminals, and related equipment for the campus; supports College and Divisional technical support staff; and supervises student staff.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, workstations, peripheral devices, and software; diagnoses problems, installs additional hardware and software, maintains standards, and repairs and reconfigures equipment as necessary; installs and maintains software on workstations and devices; and makes and maintains connections to university file servers, mainframes, and peripherals, as well as connection to the global internet community.NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of experience in support of microcomputer hardware and software environments, including operating systems, network systems, and applications software in both IBM and Macintosh environments required. Associate's degree plus at least five years of experience may be substituted.2. Works with users to isolate problems with computing resources and determines whether problems are due to user error, software, or hardware; and works with ITS staff and College/Divisional support staff to troubleshoot and resolve network errors at the workstation, network hub, and software level.
3. Serves manager's absence; supervises staff and student employees in User Services; and participates in the development of training materials and workshops.
4. Serves as resource person, trainer, and top-level support for technical service providers at college, divisional, or departmental level; provides training and support to college/divisional technical staff in the areas of software and hardware installation, configuration, and support, university standards, and network integration; serves as liaison and coordinator between college/divisional staff and vendors’ technical support; researches and resolves problems that are beyond the scope of college/divisional technical staff; supports all university staff and faculty for software and hardware not provided for by college/divisional staff.
5. Participates in the development and maintenance of inventories including supplies, network adapters, software licenses, documentation, and media; participates in the development and documentation of university standards for configurations, and methodologies; and maintains currency of work orders using service request software.
