for Cooperating Teachers and Students Teachers

Week 1
|
- Oversee gathering of Contextual
Factors* and discuss how these influence your classroom, school, and community in your instructional decision making.
- With your teacher candidate, discuss and aid in his/her selection of a unit/class for the TWS.
- Elementary: One subject area only
- Secondary: One class period only

Week 2
|
- Supply standards and benchmarks for the appropriate unit.
- Discuss and oversee development of Learning
Goals.*
|
|
Week 3
|
- Verify validity of teacher candidate’s unit Assessment
Plan* for the unit.
- Oversee alignment of test with objectives.
- Clarify testing format is optional but data must be able to be documented and presented.

Week 4
|
- In the Design for
Instruction* check alignment of lessons with learning goals.
- Check for variety of instructional methods, activities, assignments, and resources.
- Discuss technology applications.
- Verify how technology was utilized.
- Verify how/why technology was not useful.

|
Week 5
|
- Assist teacher candidate with Instructional Decision
Making* recording instructional modifications that have been made during the learning process.
- Verify that effective modifications are being made.

|
Week 6
|
- Assist teacher candidate in analyzing results of assessment data.
- Review evidence (charts, graphs, tables) of data compiled from evaluation tools.
- Review the written Analysis of Student
Learning.*
|
|
Week 7
|
- Verify that the teacher candidate has reviewed his/her teacher work sample using the RTWS prompt.
- Discuss teacher candidate’s Reflection and
Self-Evaluation* on the work sample.
|
|
Week 8
|
An opportune time for the candidate to put the finishing touches on the work sample and observe strong teachers within the building. |
