Track 23: Intense Content Track
  1. Providing Supplemental Dual Enrollment:  this session will identify the opportunities for expanding access for high school students to rigorous secondary and post-secondary learning opportunities through direct course offerings in your district, partnering with neighboring school districts, community colleges, universities and private colleges, AP on-line.  You will review legal requirements, consider the board/district role in verifying that the courses are providing college-level course work, and consider how to expand access to more students.
  2. Building Board/Superintendent Commitment to Student Achievement: in this session, learn about the critical roles of board and superintendent leadership that deliver results for students.  What do high achieving local leaders do to keep the focus on student learning?  How do expectations get defined and communicated across role groups and the community?  It takes the entire team to expect, support and ensure that instructional improvement happens.
  3. Leading Preschool Development: now in year two of state-sponsored preschool grants, districts have demonstrated what it takes to set up and implement a quality preschool program.  If your district is thinking about starting a preschool program, Leading Preschool Development will give you the tools needed to do so.  This session will focus on how to determine community preschool needs, collaborate with the community and other providers, deliver on high content and program standards, define and manage the budget, address other necessary services like transportation or wrap-around child care, and evaluate the program for effectiveness.  Whether state funded, community or district provided resources, learn what it takes to get a great preschool program up and running.

During this session, you will receive:
    1. Brand new planning tools and powerful tips for writing a successful grant application
    2. A helpful financial tool with demonstration and practice to develop an effective preschool budget
    3. Time to plan and discuss ideas and challenges with colleagues
