Margaret Buckton |

Margaret received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University in Speech Communications, with areas of concentration in economics and sociology. Margaret was a Fiscal Analyst with the Legislative Fiscal Bureau where she staffed various appropriations subcommittees. She joined IASB in 1998 as School Finance Director, served as Government Relations Director, and is now the Associate Executive Director, Public Policy for IASB. Margaret’s key responsibilities include legislative and executive branch lobbying, and leadership and advocacy training. Margaret was also a member of IASB's Lighthouse Study research team and is an instructor at the Iowa Superintendents Finance and Leadership Consortium (ISFLC). Margaret has served as a community representative board member for Drake University Head Start Policy Council. Margaret has 2 children in the Des Moines public schools and two in college. Margaret’s passion is empowering board members, administrators and education stakeholders to opt into advocacy for public schools at the state and local levels on behalf of improved student learning. |
