Why did you decide to attend college in the U.S.? Why did you choose UNI?

I have always wanted to experience the American culture, which, before coming, I could only understand through the media or other people who have experienced it. The United States has always been well known for its excellent and quality education. UNI has a highly accredited College of Business Administration which is what I was seeking for my career goals.

What do you like the most about UNI?

I like the strong community ties that UNI has, and the Panther Spirit the students and faculty have which really shows the involvement in and support of UNI.

Do you participate in any on-campus organizations or activities? If so, what are they?

I am currently joining the International Students Association, which organizes fun activities and events every semester. This is also a great way to meet students from other countries.

Do you work on campus?

I work at Fresh Beginnings, which is a bakery that makes the cookies, cakes etc. for the dining centers and other places where food is sold on campus.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is the Wellness Recreation Center because it provides great facilities for the students. It’s relaxing for me to take time off from my studies and work out in the gym or swim a few laps at the lap pool.

What have you done to help make UNI your home away from home?

I have made many friends here who will always be there for me when I have problems. I also have a host family here who are really helpful and friendly people that make me feel at home. I have been invited to celebrate holiday seasons, special events or just to have a relaxing weekend with them.

What is the one thing you would tell a new or prospective international student about attending a college in the United States?

Be prepared before coming to the United States and have the willingness to learn, have new experiences and accept differences in views or opinions. Other than that, allow yourself to be amazed by this unforgettable and possibly life changing experience here.
