Why did you decide to attend college in the United States? And why did you choose UNI?

UNI was the perfect place to continue my studies because since the very first time I visited the campus, I felt like I was coming back to my own home.

The overall size of UNI allows the personal attention from all organizational levels within the university.

Do you participate in any on-campus organizations or activities?
I am part of the International Student Promoters group, which is focused in sharing our wonderful experience at UNI with students from all over the world.

Do you work on campus?

I am a graduate assistant at the International Admissions Office

What is your favorite spot on campus?

The great reading room at Seerley Hall

What have you done to help make UNI your home away from home?

What is the one thing you would tell a new or prospective international student about attending a college in the United States?

The experience at first may seem very challenging and overwhelming, but don’t be afraid to ask for help; everyone around you is here to help you and make your experience the best one possible.

How has your academic experience been?

Having the opportunity to meet my professors in a personal level, both as an undergraduate and graduate student has made my academic experience much better because I feel more responsible for my own learning, rather than just being at a lecture hall.

How did you determine your major… i.e. did you take a class, consult with UNI programs, inspired by someone or something?

As an undergraduate student, I have changed my major 3 times until I decided to meet with an academic advisor at UNI, who helped me decide which major I would enjoy more. Throughout my undergraduate degree, I have talked a lot with Kristi and saw how much she enjoys her job, so she pointed out the Student Affairs program, which is focused on preparing someone to work in a university and help students in several ways.

Tell us about any great classes or professors that have helped, inspired or challenged you with determining your career path.

I had a chance to participate in undergraduate research in Biology. This experience was one of my favorite parts of being in college because I had a change to apply everything I learned in class and get involved in an area that I truly enjoyed studying.
