Master of Arts

Geography

Students may choose to undertake either a thesis or non-thesis track. Generally, the equivalent of two years of full-time study is required to complete the program. A student may concentrate his or her studies in human geography (urban, transportation, planning, economic, political, cultural), physical/environmental geography (geomorphology, climatology, soils), geographic information technology (GIS, cartography, remote sensing), or geographic education. The Department has extensive laboratory facilities and field equipment for physical geography including soils/sediment analysis capabilities, and extensive global positioning systems (GPS) equipment. Computer facilities include state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories operating ArcView, ArcInfo, ERDAS Imagine, S-Plus and other software packages. click here for more Info..

Admission Requirements
  • International Application for Admission
  • Official Transcripts sent directly from your current and/or all prior academic institutions that you have attended to the Office of Admissions
  • Minimum undergraduate grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale
  • Official report of TOEFL score (500 or above)
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement of academic interests in Geography

  • Fall Semester: April 1

  • Completed graduate assistantship and/or tuition scholarship applications forms should be sent with all other application documents (www.grad.uni.edu/assistantships/default.aspx) by February 1 for full consideration for the following academic year.
