Students may choose either a thesis or non-thesis track. Generally, the equivalent of two years of full-time study is required to complete the program. A student may concentrate his or her studies in many subfields of geography including GID, remote sensing, physical (fluvial and glacial geomorphology, soils), political, urban, transportation, economic, and geographic education. The department has extensive laboratory facilities and field equipment for physical geography including soils/sediment analysis capabilities, and extensive global positioning systems (GPS) equipment. Computer facilities include state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories operating ArcView, ArcInfo, ERDAS Imagine, S-Plus and other software packages.
