Casting for Video Project June 18

The School of Film and TV of Universidad VERITAS invites all UNI students interested in acting between July 2-9, 2014 in a special student video project, to come on Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. at the UNI Office of International Programs at 113 Maucker Union.  Students participating in the video must be enrolled in a July or Fall 2014 course at UNI to receive a $8.50 per hour scholarship award.  Questions can be directed to Andres Morera

International Student Design Competition

The International Students and Scholars Office has a newly remodeled office space and is in need of some artistic international design!  This semester, ISSO will be sponsoring an international student design competition where UNI international students will have the opportunity to design one of six bookcase shelves to represent individual countries or regions.  Winners will receive a $500 scholarship (teams will split the scholarship) plus up to $150 to cover the costs of materials.  If you are interested - pick up a design form from ISSO or print the form

ISSO Winter Break Office Hours

The International Students & Scholars Office will be open regular hours through Friday, December 20.  ISSO will be closed December 23 through January 1.  The office will reopen on Thursday, January 2 for regular business hours.  If you need emergency assistance during this time, please call UNI Public Safety at 273-4000.  You should also call Public Safety after hours and during weekends for emergency assistance.  They know how to contact ISSO staff as necessary.

International Opportunities Fair

Come and join the Study Abroad Center at the 2013 International Opportunities Fair on Wednesday, September 18th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Maucker Union Ballroom. Come and learn about study abroad opportunities. Meet past participants, faculty and staff. Learn about financial aid, scholarships, credit transfer, international travel, study-work-internship-research-volunteer abroad! Free admission. Over 75 exhibitors!  During the event we will be celebrating Passport Day! The Black Hawk County Recorders Office will be here for those that need to renew or issue new passport.

Welcome Reception for New and Returning International Students

It is time to celebrate!  Sunday, August 25 at 6 pm in Maucker Union Central Ballroom B.  Join with other new and returning international students to celebrate the start of a great semester.  President Ruud will also be in attendance.  There will be appetizers, drinks and plenty of time to meet people.  Students are encouraged to wear their traditional clothing.

- Fill out the New International Student Arrival Form at EVEN if you have arranged for alternate airport pickup.  This is the only way we can alert dormitories of your arrival and prepare linen packets and meal cards for you.

Dr. Nadia Korobova Awarded Fulbright Grant

Dr. Nadia Korobova, Associate Director for International Students and Scholars, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright grant to participate in U.S.-Germany International Education Administrators Seminar to be held in Germany and France in October of this year.  The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sponsors the Fulbright Program from an annual appropriation from the U.S. Congress.  As a Fulbright grantee, Dr. Korobova will join the ranks of distinguished participants in the Program.

In continuation of Office of International Programs' Diplomat Series, UNI will welcome Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Chile Minister Counselor Roberto Matus in April.  Mr. Matus will give a lecture entitled "Chile: a Road to Development" on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 6 pm to 7 pm at Curris Business Building Room 109 (John Deere Auditorium). Staff Changes

I am pleased to report that, effective November 12, 2012, there will be some changes made in the recently renamed International Students and Scholars Office. These changes are being made to improve the services that the University provides to international students and scholars. Dr. Nadia Korobova is being promoted to the position of Associate Director for International Students and Scholars, and head ISSO. Dr. Korobova holds BA from Simferopol State University (Ukraine), MA from University of Northern Iowa, and PhD from Iowa State University.
