Process for Formally Inviting International Visitors
If you are interested in bringing an international visitor the UNI campus please contact the Office of International Programs secretary, Beccy Johnson, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-273-6807.
Once the Office of international Programs (OIP) has received notification by a department head that they want to host an international visitor or OIP is contacted by an international partner/professor looking for an appropriate departmental match, specific information is required to begin the process of bringing the visitor to the UNI campus. If the international visitor you are hosting requires immigration documentation please complete the attach DS-2019 application, if applicable.
The University of Northern Iowa encourages colleges, departments and faculty members to invite foreign scholars to campus to engage in academic and research collaborations and to teach. Such visits provide the UNI community with a diversity of perspectives, which facilitate the generation of knowledge.

Housing for International Visitors:
The Office of International Programs ("OIP") has apartments available for international visiting scholars/professors to rent during their time at UNI.
203 E. Street - This is a standard two-bedroom apartment. The rent includes all utilities (heat, air conditioning, electric, water, cable TV, internet connectivity and telephone, excluding long distance). The apartment is fully furnished, including bedding, towels, pans, dishes, etc. It is located on the south side of campus, see the attached campus map. Children and families are welcome in this apartment. 203 E. Street on Campus Map
10 Hagemann Hall - This is a standard one-bedroom apartment. The rent includes all utilities (heat, air conditioning, electric, water, cable TV, internet connectivity and telephone, excluding long distance). The apartment is fully furnished, including bedding, towels, pans, dishes, etc. It is located on the ground level of a residence hall on campus, see the attached campus map. Since this is a residence hall adults only are a better fit for this apartment. There are two beds and two closets, so sharing of this apartment with another international visitor is an option. 10 Hagemann on Campus Map
