Victoria Pruin DeFrancisco, Ph.D., Professor in the Department of Communication Studies. Her area of expertise is gender and cultural diversity. She teaches courses in interpersonal communication, gender issues, intercultural communication, language and culture, and women’s and gender studies. Dr. DeFrancisco is co-author of a critically acclaimed upper-level textbook, Communicating Gender Diversity: A Critical Approach (2007). She has taught in Beijing, China, Klagenfurt, Austria, and guest lectured in Vienna, Austria and St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition to academic publications, she has given over 60 speeches and workshops on the topic of gender and diversity. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign. She came to UNI in 1989.
