Dr. Alicja Boruta-Sadkowski is an Adjunct Professor in the History Department at the University of Northern Iowa. She received her Ph.D. in Slavic Linguistics in 1997 from the University of Michigan. Her main research and publication area concerns the development of the Belarusian literary language in the 1920s and 1930s and the influence of Russian and Polish on this development. Her publications also include works on Russian language and culture. Dr. Boruta-Sadkowski has attended numerous conferences in the Slavic field in the U.S., Canada, Belarus, and Russia. For nearly a decade she taught distance courses on Polish language, literature, and culture, offered for students at the University of Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University. She has also developed a study abroad program for her Polish language students at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.
