Professor Craig Evan Klafter

Craig Evan Klafter was born in New York, and raised there, in France, in the Netherland Antilles, and in the United Kingdom. He earned a B.A. with General Honors in History and an M.A. in History from the University of Chicago, and a D.Phil. in Modern History from the University of Oxford where he studied under J.R. Pole. In an academic career that has spanned nearly 25 years, he has held faculty positions and senior academic administrator positions in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. Professor Klafter has published Reason Over Precedent: Origins of American Legal Thought, Essays on English Law and the American Experience, Legal Practice Management and Quality Standards, The Future of National Identity, and numerous articles. He is a recipient of a Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst Scholarship and the Webb-Smith Essay Prize from the University of Texas.  He also serves as Treasurer of the American Society for Legal History.
