UNI-Dome Photo

The UNI-Dome and West Gym hosted 150,309 attendees for UNI sporting events in 2002-2003 and 197,783 guests for non-athletic events in the UNI-Dome.

ICN/Continuing Education offers 590 courses with 1,768 enrollments in 2003-04, which continues to increase every year.

The University of Northern Iowa is represented at the Iowa State Fair with a booth staffed by 200 alumni volunteers and 40 faculty and staff members. Tens of thousands of guests visit the booth each year.

The Global Health Corps is a field-based training program to enhance the professional preparation of post-secondary students in the area of cross-cultural community health. The program meets the needs of globalization, economic disparity, devolution and migration in the 21st century.

The 2+2 Program is a university partnership with communities and community colleges, providing access to UNI undergraduate degree programs for Iowans who are place-bound and/or changing careers. Partners are DMACC/Carroll, WIT (Sioux City) Northeast Iowa CC at Peosta and Calmar.

InTime assists educators with implementing Iowa's Teaching Standards and highlights UNI's expertise in educational technology. InTime helps educators improve student learning at all levels (PK thru university work) and in all content areas through the use of technology.

Each year, more than 200,000 children are injured on America's playgrounds. To address the growing concern for playground safety, the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) serves as a public resource for the latest in information on playground safety and injury prevention.

More than 175 presentations are available on a variety of topics through UNI's Speakers Bureau; more than 60 speakers were placed last year in Iowa businesses and organizations.

The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at the University of Northern Iowa coordinates existing university resources and those of the center with those of its individual, business and government partners to promote and develop entrepreneurship throughout Iowa.

The Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center hosted 36,650 guests for the Artists Series and 21,273 for the Kaleidoscope children's series.

Sports, arts and science camps drew 26,345 youth at 61 events managed through UNI's Conference and Event Services during 2002-03.

2004 marked the 28th year of the Overseas Placement Fair, which is the oldest of its kind anywhere in the world. In 2002, the fair attracted more than 120 American international schools, representing 65 countries and 570 teaching candidates. More than 17,000 educators have been served in the 28 years of the program.
