Excellent facilities enhance the student experience and UNI

 

McCollum photoMcCollum Science Hall features nine laboratories, four lecture/classrooms, 16 student/faculty research laboratories and 24 offices. It is an integral facet of the hands-on learning and research opportunities for science majors.

 

The Integrated Teaching Technology Center, houses a number of academic departments and programs, incorporating technologically state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching and educational support spaces.

The Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center complex features three concert halls, a soaring glass-walled lobby and dozens of teaching and rehearsal spaces. All three halls have been designed with state-of-the-art equipment, superb acoustics and intimate sightlines. Hosting more than 300 performances each year, the GBPAC showcases the world's finest artists, ensembles of the UNI School of Music, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony and other events.

 

The Health Center includes a retail pharmacy, counseling services and a personal atmosphere for health care, easily accessible to students on campus.

 

WRC Pool PhotoThe Wellness Recreation Center offers a variety of exercise, fitness and health classes. Students can play basketball and racquetball, swim, run on the track, lift weights in the free weight room, use one of the numerous exercise machines or climb the rock wall.

 

The University Museum/Marshall Center School's collections, which support the university's curriculum and research, cover a wide selection of natural and human history topics. The museums offer events and programs to heighten student and public awareness of environmental and cultural diversity and serve as a forum for the discussion of global issues. The Marshall Center School is a reminder of Iowa's historically prominent role in quality education, the role of UNI in training teachers and the shaping of 19th century America through its rural schools.

The McLeod Center's arena seats 6,100 people, with room for an additional 900 in floor seating. It is a conducive environment for basketball and volleyball games and wrestling matches, bringing fans closer to the action. The McLeod Center is be located south of the UNI-Dome.

 

The Center for Multicultural Education provides an atmosphere that nurtures students of color. It assists the campus in improving the retention of U.S. racial and ethnic minority students, staff, faculty and administrators through its internships, practicums, workshops, speaker forums, library, symposia and conferences.

 

Maucker Union provides food service venues on the main level, space for student organizations, Northern Iowa Student Government, and the addition of the Center for Multicultural Education and International Student Services on the plaza level.
