On behalf of the Electrical and Information Engineering Technology
(EIET) faculty at the University of Northern Iowa, welcome to
our web site.
Electrical, electronics, telecommunications, microcomputers,
and networking technologies continue to be at the forefront
of our exciting technology evolution. The EIET Faculty strive
to provide a rigorous, challenging, and exciting educational
environment making the EIET program one of the best engineering
technology programs.
Our program is the first and only 4-year engineering technology
major in electrical and electronics area in the State of Iowa’s
Higher Institutions. The EIET full time and adjunct faculty
members are experienced engineers who bring that experience
into the classroom and labs for the benefit of our students.
The blend of theory, concept, hands-on education, and real-life
practice throughout all four years of the Bachelor of Science
program provides our students an active and exciting approach
to learning.
The EIET laboratories have state-of-the-art electronic test
instruments and related equipment. Many thanks to UNI equipment
funds, Rockwell-Collins Inc., and John Deere Product Engineering
Center, we have been successful to regularly update our equipment
in the labs.
Our qualified students beginning from sophomore year enjoy very
much part time jobs and paid internship opportunities in John
Deere Waterloo Works (including all branches in Cedar Falls-Waterloo),
and Rockwell-Collins Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Nestle USA in Waverly,
Cedar Falls Utilities, Waterloo Industries, etc. Our students
work in the electrical/electronics circuits, analog, digital,
and projects laboratories while advanced students also work
in telecommunications, RF communications, PLCs, electrical power,
renewable energy, microprocessor/ microcomputer, and wireless/wired
networking laboratory setups. State funded solar electric boat
project has been an excellent tool for student learning and
development also.
The EIET faculty members measure their success by the demand
for and success of the EIET graduates. Our graduates are
highly sought by local and regional industry. The growing need
for engineering technology graduates continues to grow at an
accelerating pace making EIET a good place to prepare for a
successful career.
Please browse our web site, and you will learn about the curriculum,
course descriptions, our recent alumni and their brief testimonials,
faculty, facilities, registration, and many other aspects of
the program and the department. Please do not hesitate to visit
me in my office ITC 39 or reach me at pecen@uni.edu or at (319)
273 2598. I would be very happy to help you and arrange a tour
of the program.
Best wishes,
