About IHSMUN

Secretary General

Hi! Welcome to the Iowa High School Model United Nations program. My name is Christopher Phalen, and I will be serving you as Secretary General for the 2009-2010 academic year. I am a junior at the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in History Education and minoring in political science and music.

As Secretary General, I will plan, organize and facilitate the 45th annual IHSMUN Spring Conference alongside the IHSMUN Secretariat, a group of 40 University of Northern Iowa students. If you have any questions about IHSMUN, please let me know. I look forward to working with all of you as we prepare for Spring Conference. A lot of exciting things are happening this year with the IHSMUN program, and I am glad that you are participating with us!

Secretariat Officers 2009-2010

Secretariat Officers of Iowa High School Model United Nations take on a more intense role in the organization of the conference. They each have specific duties that they
must complete to ensure that the conference runs
smoothly. Without the help of these individuals, our
Spring Conference would not exist.

Secretariat Members

Secretariat Members play a vital role in the functioning of our conference. Secretariat Members serve as chairs of the committees, and perform any tasks asked of them by the Secretary General.

Faculty Advisor

John Higdon is the Faculty Advisor of the Iowa High School Model United Nations. John lends his support to the Secretary General and guides the Secretariat in conference preparations. John plays an integral role in making our conference among the best in the Midwest. John has been the advisor since 2002-03.
