field experience? Yes. Everyone needs a passport to travel abroad. A visa grants permission to visit, study or work in a foreign country. The government of the country to which you are planning to go issues visas. Each country has different requirements for visas. Some countries dont require a visa, others do. Check out visa information at http://www.traveldocs.com or talk to international field experience staff. Note: This web site is for reference only. Are there any health concerns where Im going? Only your physician can completely answer this question. However, the Centers for Disease Control at http://www.cdc.gov/ has an informative web site that covers travel health issues. How do buy a plane ticket? How do I know I have the best price? Often international field experience groups travel together overseas, so you dont need to worry about researching airfares. If you are traveling independently, simply call the major airlines that service your destination. For the most part they have "800" toll free numbers. Tell them you are a student and you are looking for the best price! Also try contacting the Council on International Educational Exchange travel office. This student travel agency often has excellent prices! Call them at 1-800-2COUNCIL. Ive never been abroad before. I have so many questions about international travel I cant even list them. When you participate in an international field experience, you will be part of a team of students who will prepare together for the program.
