Experiences in Inquiry - an IMPACT workshop
June 24-25, 2014

for Elementary School Teachers and Administrators

IMPACT (IMPacting Achievement with Collaborations and Technology)

  • Collaborate with your colleagues from across Iowa.
  • Participate in a WebQuest as you explore the possibilities of Inquiry.
  • Earth science activities from STORM & GLOBE are used to demonstrate Inquiry skills.
  • Workshop concepts may be incorporated into the teaching of any science lesson.
  • Practice using science as an integrating context.
  • Ideal opportunity for collaboration between teachers of multiple subjects.
  • Explore technology integration in an Inquiry setting.
  • The workshop complements Iowa's Every Learner Inquires Initiative and the Iowa Core Curriculum.

2014 Science Inquiry Workshop Logistics:
  • 2 Days - June 24-25, 2014
  • 8 am - 5 pm; Tuesday-Wednesday
  • for elementary school teachers
  • Held at the University of Northern Iowa campus

Workshop Expenses:

  • Lunch provided.
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses
  • Workshop materials covered by grant funds

Participant Stipend:

  • The two day Science Inquiry workshop will result in a potential of $200 stipend per participating teacher/administrator.

Graduate/AEA credit:

  • 1 graduate or AEA recertification credit is available
  • Final report due July 31, 2014
  • Grades available in September, 2014.

The Title II/MSP Program combines the "Improving Teacher Quality State Grant Program" (Title IIA) & the "Math and Science Partnerships Program (Title IIB) programs. The program is administered through the Iowa Board of Regents and the Iowa Department of Education and is designed to be coordinated through higher education institutions for PreK-12 schools.
