Experiences in Inquiry - an IMPACT workshop
June 15-16, 2010
for High School Teachers and Administrators in AEA 1
IMPACT (IMPacting Achievement with Collaborations and Technology)
- Collaborate with your colleagues from AEA 1.
- Experience Inquiry methods that can easily be transferred to any unit.
- Apply Science Inquiry to your curriculum in your grade level.
- Discover the many GLOBE and STORM activities that will enhance
your Inquiry teaching.
- Explore technology integration in an Inquiry setting.
- Participate in a WebQuest as you explore the possibilities of Inquiry.
- The workshop complements Iowa's Every Learner Inquires Initiative.

STORM (Science center for Teaching, Outreach, and Research on
Meteorology) program is a cooperative program between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Northern Iowa. For more information about about STORM, see this website: http://www.uni.edu/storm.

2010 Science Inquiry Workshop Logistics:
- 2 Days - June 15-16, 2010
- 8 am - 5 pm; Tuesday-Wednesday
- for high school teachers
- Held at the MFLMarMac High School (Monona)
Workshop Expenses:
- Lunch provided.
- Reimbursement for travel expenses
- Workshop materials covered by grant funds
Participant Stipend:
- The two day Science Inquiry workshop will result in a potential of
$200 stipend per participating teacher/administrator.
Graduate/AEA credit:
- 1 graduate or AEA recertification credit is available
- Final report due July 31, 2010
- Grades available in September, 2010.

The NCLB - Title II Programs combines the "Improving Teacher Quality State Grant
Program" (Title IIA) & the "Math and Science Partnerships Program (Title IIB)
programs. The program is administered through the Iowa Board of Regents and the
Iowa Department of Education and is designed to be coordinated through higher
education institutions for PreK-12 schools.
