AdmissionsEntrance RequirementsFirst-Year StudentsEntering first-year students with an ACT of 27 or higher (SAT I of 1210 or higher) and a high school rank in the top 10% will automatically be invited to join the University Honors Program upon their admission to the University of Northern Iowa. Letters of invitation will be sent to qualifying students shortly after they are admitted to the university. Students will be asked to respond to accept their position in the program. Responses will be accepted until the program reaches its capacity, so it is important to apply for admission to UNI as early as possible and to respond promptly to your Honors invitation. Students who do not meet the criteria for an automatic invitation can request that their case be reviewed on an individual basis. Please send a copy of your transcript and a one-page letter describing why you are a good candidate for the University Honors Program to: University Honors Program Current/Transfer StudentsCurrent UNI students can apply for admission to the program with a UNI cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better and a professor’s recommendation. Transfer students can apply with a GPA of 3.30 or better from their transfer institution and a professor’s recommendation. Application Form – Current/Transfer StudentsTo remain in good standing in the Honors Program, students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. |
