**900:190 - The Teaching of the Social Studies (co-requisite: 900:191) - 3 hours
**900:191 - Field Experience: Teaching Social Studies (co-requisite: 900:190) - 3 hours
960:010 - Introduction to the Study of History - 3 hours
(this course must be taken immediately after the major is declared)
960:014 - United States History to 1877 - 3 hours
960:015 - United States History Since 1877 - 3 hours
(014 and 015 must be taken by the end of the sophomore year)
960:192 - Junior-Senior Seminar - 3 hours
OR
960:193 - Historians and the Philosophy of History - 3 hours

*All History majors must successfully complete 680:021 and 680:022. Not all transferred Humanities courses that meet general education requirements also fulfill the history requirement. Transfer students must check with their advisor to be sure the requirement for 680:021 and 680:022 has been met

A MINOR IN ANOTHER SOCIAL SCIENCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED:
economics, geography, political science, sociology-anthropology. See appropriate department for required courses

PROFICIENCY IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND QUANTITATIVE METHODS IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED (particularly for students planning to do graduate work).

**900:190 and 900:191 may ONLY be taken the semester before you are scheduled to student teach!!
