Symptoms:

  • Skin manifestations vary widely
  • Itching
  • Irritation

Home Care/Self Treatment:

  • Over-the-counter antihistamine
  • Avoid scratching
  • Cool bath with additive (baking soda, Aveeno, oatmeal) several times a day
  • Over-the-counter topical ointments may be helpful

Seek Medical Attention if:

  • If you recently started a new medication
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Swelling of mouth, tongue or throat, or eyes
  • No improvement in 48 hours after home care measures
  • Fever, sore throat or joint pain
  • Signs of infection – increased redness, swelling, warmth, drainage or fever
  • If rash with purple spots and having headache, stiff neck or fever
