Group Projects
The group project must be an original (not done before),
empirical (involving data collection) study. Within those constraints, however,
you have lots of choices. You could:
- design
a program to modify behaviors (for example, getting students to eat
healthier) and test its effectiveness.
- update
and add to a classic study (for example, conducting Milgram’s study of the
drawing power of crowds with the additional variable of the status of the
onlookers).
- apply
an influence theory to an applied setting (for example, examining the
effects of the norm of reciprocity in the context of a job interview).
- test
the interaction effects of basic persuasion techniques (for example, test
whether one- vs. two-sided messages are more effective for low vs. high
involving issues)
- etc.,
etc.
Try to come up with a general area that interests you first.
