Individual presentations

You should find at least 5 to 8 scientific journal articles for your presentation. You want to find a topic that you can cover well in 30-40 minutes. For example, saying everything there is to be said about prejudice during that time would be nearly impossible. You’d want to focus on one aspect of that area, such as family influences on prejudice or the effectiveness of programs to reduce prejudice. Remember to keep your topic focused on psychological issues. Your topic should be related to influence and not something that we have covered in depth in class. All topics must be approved.

Here are a few examples, but there are many more possible topics you could do (these topics are also written in a broad way--in most cases you’d want to narrow it down further):

Nonverbals and persuasion

Law and influence

Health and influence

Environment and influence

Business and influence

Leadership

Influence in relationships

Peer pressure

Influence in helping situations

Influence and aggression

Influence and physical attraction

Brainstorming

Group decision making

Social dilemmas

Group polarization

Jury decision making

Stereotyping
