Business and Community Services (BCS)

Serves as the one-stop entity for economic development services and provides an integrated approach to meeting the economic development needs of businesses, entrepreneurs, and communities throughout Iowa.

National Ag Based Industrial Lubricants (NABL)

Provides research and technology transfer activities that stimulate commercialization of soybean-based industrial lubricants and greases, leading to the expansion of market opportunities for Iowa.

 

Institute for Decision Making (IDM)

Economic and community development resource that guides local leaders as they make decisions and take organized action to improve their communities through results-oriented initiatives.

 

Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC)

Serves small businesses by providing assistance with environmental regulations, waste reduction, and the latest environmental technologies.

 

John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC)

Provides research, consultation, and linkage to seed and venture capital resources for entrepreneurs launching new ventures and small companies experiencing rapid growth.

 

Regional Business Center/Small Business Development Center (RBC/SBDC)

Conducts professional development workshops for business professionals.

 

Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

Offers small business counseling services and educational programs for business formation.

 

Strategic Marketing Services (SMS)

Helps businesses grow by delivering accurate, affordable marketplace intelligence through long-term market research and technical assistance.

ICN

Courses taught by UNI faculty members, usually offered as part of a degree program or certificate program, via the Iowa Communications Network at predetermined locations.

Presidential and Provost Scholarships

Awarded by the University Honors Program to high school seniors with a history of outstanding academic performance, along with personal involvement in leadership and service activities.

Center for Economic Education (CEE)

Works to increase the quantity and enhance the quality of economic education programs from kindergarten through college by conducting programs for teachers and working with school district officials to distribute appropriate curriculum materials.

Center for Energy and Environmental Education (CEEE)

Promotes greater understanding and awareness about issues related to energy efficiency and the environment to the public, educational and civic institutions, and businesses.

Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC)

Offers innovative programs and services designed to provide quality arts education experiences to individuals, families, and communities throughout the state.

Geographic Alliance of Iowa

Works to improve the teaching of geography concepts and content by helping to develop high quality teaching materials and the training to use them.

Global Health Corps

Field-based training program that improves the cultural competency of health pre-professionals while increasing access to health programs for under-served and diverse populations.

Institute for Educational Leadership

Works with educators to focus on and clarify issues important to education in Iowa.

Integrative Services Project

Works to enhance the safety and sobriety of battered substance abusing women by ending discrimination in service provision through research, agency education, technological support, and collaboration among service providers.

Iowa Consortium for Applied Gerontology

Increases the number of service providers and improves educational opportunities to better serve Iowa’s senior population.

Iowa Educational Technology and Training Institute (IETTI)

Has taken a leadership role in planning, coordinating, and delivering educational technology programs to Iowa educators.

Iowa Math and Science Coalition

Collaboration of leaders in business, government, and education working for positive changes in mathematics and science education in Iowa.

Metal Casting Center (MCC)

Provides educational services and technology transfer activities to promote increased productivity for the metal casting industry.

National Program for Playground Safety

Serves as a public resource for the latest information on playground safety and plays an active role in injury prevention on playgrounds.

National Youth Fitness and Obesity Institute

Provides the foundation for research and development activities designed to address the growing concerns related to youth fitness levels and childhood obesity.

Native Roadside Vegetation Center (NRVC)

Provides research, techniques, education, and source-identified seed for restoration and preservation of native vegetation systems.

New Iowans Program

Guides and prepares Iowa communities and businesses as they accommodate immigrant and refugee newcomers living and working in Iowa.

Recycling and Reuse Technology Transfer Center (RRTTC)

Interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach center that provides support to the recycling and by-product reutilization industry.

Science Center for Teaching, Outreach, and Research on Meteorology (STORM)

Initiates, supports, and coordinates activities that relate weather information and conceptual models of the atmosphere to user communities in Iowa and the Midwest.

Teacher Education Addressing Minority-Language Speakers (TEAMS)

A bilingual career ladder program that enables successful completion of elementary teacher education for adults whose native language is other than English.

2+2 Partnership Program

Allows students to complete two years of a teacher education program through community college courses and then two years of classes taught by UNI faculty on location at the community college.

UNI Museums

Offers events and programs to heighten student and public awareness of environmental and cultural diversity and serves as a forum for the discussion of global issues.

Provides access to technology, services, and training to families of students with disabilities.
