Welcome to the Department of Geography at the University of Northern Iowa. If you are familiar with the discipline of Geography, you'll find a lot of useful information on our site. If you are new to Geography, then you might be surprised at what, and how much we do. Geography is the science of place and space. We use high-tech tools to discover and explain spatial patterns in the natural and human worlds. Geographers are active in the study of global warming, deforestation, globalization, desertification, flooding, rural and economic development, pollution, disease outbreaks, and much more. We still make maps, of course; but these days you aren't likely to see a geographer hunched over a drafting table. We use space-based technology and cutting-edge computer technology to create digital maps and interactive representations of the Earth and people.

So feel free to click on some links and explore Geography at UNI. If you need any additional information, please contact the department head, Dr. Patrick Pease
