Based on the novel by Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is unquestionably an American classic. Prejudice, racism, and human values are not issues of a particular time; they are timeless issues. To Kill a Mockingbird places these issues in a context that transcends the story’s individuals and their actions. Through a dramatic trial that divides the town, lawyer Atticus teaches his children that “ you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Rather than condensing the entire show, the one-hour school production features the pivotal courtroom scene.
