GEOGRAPHY AWARENESS WEEK ACTIVITIES

THEY ARE FUN! THEY ARE EASY!

THEY ARE ALL ABOUT CONSERVATION!!!

 

Please take time to participate in at least one of the activities listed below. Conservation is important to each and everyone of us as citizens of this great state.

Try one or more of these ideas!!

Please, please report what you did to the GAI Office.
Your reporting is VERY, VERY IMPORTANT
!!!

 

MONDAY -
Collect local/area newspapers for the past two to three weeks.
Have your students locate articles about Conservation.
Note articles of local interest, state interest and national interest.
What areas of conservation seem to be of the most interest?
Collect letters to the editor and editorials about conservation.
Post articles in an area where all can see.

TUESDAY – "Geography Wear – In Day"
Have students wear their favorite Geography t-shirt to school. Have them locate that place on a map in the media center, library or individual classrooms.
Tally and chart the most popular place.

WEDNESDAY -
Contact your local Conservation Department.
Schedule a guest speaker to visit your class to talk about local conservation issues or take a field trip!!!!

THURSDAY - Take Conservation home!
Encourage students to share the National Geographic Web-site with their parents.

FRIDAY –
Show a cool movie or read a story about conservation.
Check with your school media person for wonderful suggestions.
