Financial Aid Timeline

Please utilize the timeline below to maximize your financial aid eligibility. Remember, being organized is a big part of financial planning.

High School Junior and Senior Year

Begin scholarship search process. Collect information on scholarships including their deadlines and application procedures.

High School Senior Year

September: Deadlines for incoming freshmen approach faster than you think, complete the University Scholarship Application for the upcoming academic year.

December/January: Apply for your FAFSA PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Both students and parents will need a PIN when completing the FAFSA electronically.

January: Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after this date. The UNI School Code is 001890.

February: Students will be notified if they have been selected for verification. If selected, please submit requested materials to UNI as soon as possible to not delay awarding.

Mid-March: Initial Financial Aid award sent out to students with complete records.

Once Awarded: Evaluate how much financial aid will need to be accepted. Accept, reduce, or decline the financial aid offered within the award notification.

If borrowing for the first time: students will need to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) at www.studentloans.gov.

Summer: Begin searching for employment at UNI Online Job Board.

August: Fall bills sent out electronically.
