This loan program allows parents of dependent students to borrow the amount equal to the cost of attendance minus other financial aid received. The interest rate is variable and will not exceed 9%. An origination fee is withheld from the amount borrowed. The parent will sign only one promissory note that will be used for all PLUS loans in that parent’s name at UNI.* By using the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (PMPN), the parent will not need to sign and submit a separate promissory note for each new loan. However, a UNI PLUS Loan Disbursement Agreement Form must be completed with each new loan. If you wish to borrow a Federal Direct PLUS Loan, complete, sign and return the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note and the UNI PLUS Loan Disbursement Agreement Form to the Financial Aid Office. All PLUS Loans are disbursed in two installments. Repayment begins 60 days after the final disbursement. *If a parent has more than one student attending UNI, a separate master promissory note will need to be completed for each student. If the parent wishes to borrow a Federal Direct Plus Loan, simply return the PLUS loan promissory note and the UNI Plus Loan Disbursement Agreement Form to the UNI Financial Aid Office. |
