Shortage of Loans

In response to recent commentaries on the lack of student loan availability, the University of Northern Iowa would like to assure students that they will still have the ability to participate in the Federal Direct Loan Program. These commentaries are not referring to the Federal Direct Loan Program; they are referring to private student loan lenders. These lenders have been faced with tightening financial markets, which has caused some to suspend business. UNI has been assured by multiple financial institutions that private, alternative student loans will continue to be available.
